The Story of Angel Backpack.
The Beginning.
Angel Backpack began as a one weekend project of providing over 50 backpacks to a small homeless community in Miami, Florida. Each backpack was filled with toiletries, one towel, and one blanket funded primarily by the local community.
The Growth.
After the success of the weekend, we decided to try and organize another project on a larger scale. In the following months, we reached out to a few family and friends asking for donations of their children’s end-of-the-school-year used backpacks as well as any unused toiletries.
The Success.
Our mission began to spread at an unprecedented rate. Before we knew it, local schools, churches, and Girl Scout troops began collecting backpacks and supplies. We were able to gather and fill 400 more backpacks before the end of the summer.
The Formation.
Once we felt the outpouring of support from our community, we knew we wanted to continue to grow and focus our mission; Angel Backpack was born. While continuing to work our day jobs, we began to develop our plan and vision for the future of our non-profit.
The Vision.
Moving forward, we really looked at what areas of our community we could make an impact in. We didn’t want to limit our efforts. We decided to provide assistance where we could: underprivileged students, shelters, Title I schools, children’s hospitals, and more.
The Future.
Our goals are vast. We would like to expand our humanitarian efforts to promote literacy among our youth, acquire our own facility for storage and assembly, grow to other areas of Florida, and so much more. Find out today how you can get involved.
